Ministry Purpose
Your role in the Ushers Ministry is to carry the joy that attendees feel after being parked and greeted into the Worship Room. Ushers help new visitors find seating in worship, before and after the lights go down. Ushers are the physical representation of the joy that 24 wants people to feel when giving back to God.
Requirements
- We ask that you serve 1-4 times per month and attend church
during the same service.
- For the safety of all children, complete and pass a volunteer
background check (we only check for sexually related crimes).
Service Expectations
- Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled service time to check in and
receive your volunteer badge.
- Report to the Ministry Team Leader for your assigned section and
side to collect offering.
- Ushers should obtain their offering basket prior to finding seating.
- Pray! Pray! Pray!
- Pray that God multiplies these offerings for the glory of His
Kingdom.
- Pray for your fellow volunteers that they feel the weight of
their responsibilities and that they serve with a joyful heart.
- Pray for the congregants of 24 that they feel joy in giving back
to Him what God has given to them.
- Either when the speaking pastor announces it or when the ‘Disco
Ball” lights start (whichever comes first) Ushers should move to the
front of the Worship Room to their assigned section and side.
- If you are seating that day, get a flashlight and report to your
assigned entrance to the Worship Room.
- Those assigned to Media Replenishment that day are to ensure that
all seats in the Worship Room are filled with the current media.
- Every week there should be a background check form, a
visitors contact card and an offering envelop.
- Other media may periodically apply.
- Occasionally, you may be asked to accompany the Team Leader as
the 2nd security volunteer to deliver the offering to a member of
Leadership. At 24, we ensure that the money that is given back to
God is secure at all times.
- Report concerns or ideas for improvement to the Ministry Team
Leader.
- Attend occasional Team meetings.
- If you will be unable to serve your assigned shift, please give ample
notice to your Team Leader.
Interacting with Folks
- Give a warm welcome, saying for example, “Good morning, we’re
so glad to see you this morning.”
- Strike up a conversation with people. You could talk about the
weather, coffee, music, work, hobby… Look for commonalities, or
something that can help you connect.
- Connect visitors with regular attendees. Try not to seat them alone,
but rather next to or near regular attendees.
- Always smile, (even if you are tired.)
